Bicycle Carrier Lowers for vehicle access
A super strong low pivot point is specially designed to allow the bicycles to lie flat when lowered. This makes for the best access possible to the rear of the vehicle and permits easy and unobstructed opening of the vehicle's rear door. No need to load and unload the bicycles to get to the rear of the car. It takes only seconds to lower or raise the entire assembly for the ultimate in quick and convenient access to the rear of the vehicle.

Vertical Offset Loading

The vertical offset configuration delivers sensational clearance between bicycles and offers the maximum flexibility in loading options. For example, with the iSi bicycle carrier, it is now possible to load bicycles side by side with zero clearance issues between bars, pedals, forks and rear axles. By configuring the load so that the widest parts are offset vertically, you no longer have to compromise the bicycle position and orientation to avoid contact. Moreover, the vertical offset on iSi bicycle carriers contributes substantially to the narrowest silhouette possible - for the minimum overall width possible. Indeed, the entire load can now be as wide as the widest bike - and no wider.

The upper frame cradle is designed for zero load upon the bicycle frame and simply acts as a support to keep the bicycle vertical.. With this in mind, a special section soft, supple and super durable rubber compound is specified on the contact layer with the bicycle frame. With generous thickness over a tough base layer and wide contact area, the special rubber acts as a vibration isolator while the surface layer on the bicycle frame remains in contact at all times for zero rubbing. Any movement is taken up inside the rubber support layers for the maximum support and protection of the bicycle frame. The ultimate protection for carbon and thin wall alloy frames.

Endless bumps and corrugations on rough tracks demand extremely secure clamping of adjustable steel components such as wheel cradles etc. In engineering terms, the grub screw is one of the most versatile but requires high clamping force to remain unaffected by fatiguing vibrational loads.

Traditional systems employ what is known as flat-on-flat clamping where the screw is forced into the flat part of the mating rail. This is by far the most convenient to manufacture, very inexpensive and typically found on household furniture and lighter duty equipment.

After relatively short periods of vibration as found on even mild dirt roads, let alone rough tracks flat-on-flat clamped joints can and will fail. This arrangement permits unwanted sliding movement as the relatively weak flats move relative to each other. In addition, as the flat metal surfaces flex, the screw clamping load reduces and the joint can slide further. Indeed, after longer periods of vibration, it is not uncommon for the screw to back out completely and be lost on the track.

iSi bicycle carriers are cleverly designed to address these issues thoroughly. With screw clamps that bite firmly into the corner of the mating rail and literally force the two components together, positively locking them and always holds firm in all three dimensions. By far the ultimate clamping arrangement and a most significant aspect of thorough design.

A clever latching system that locks tighter as the load increases. The unique iSi PoziLock Latching system permits ultra easy locking of the main beam when raised. Moreover, with the advanced computer designed and analysed latch profile, it locks tight when the going gets tough. In addition, the upper locking pin adds a second level of security and stability.

Engineered to Cushion Shock Loads

In extreme terrain, shock loads through the vehicle are dampened by the cleverly designed carrier beam. By promoting small vertical and/or twisting deflections, the bicycles are protected at all times. This is particularly important when long stretches of heavily corrugated roads need to be traversed at high speed.

Zero Offset

With generous clearance between bicycles, infinite individual position adjustment and vertical staggering means zero offset between the bicycles for the narrowest silhouette possible and maximum clearance to obstacles on either side of the track. This addresses the age old problem of having to stagger a bicycle one way or the other relative to the other bicycle in order to fit both without touching and rubbing.

Stones, stones and more stones

Those that have travelled on roads that are littered with stones and rocks will know only too well just how destructive they can be. Rocks thrown from tyres - particularly those from aggressive 4x4 tread tyres can cause serious damage to anything that is in their way.

By cradling the bicycles above the line described by the vehicle's departure angle, the bicycles remain well shielded and stones thrown from the tyres pass harmlessly below the bicycle tyres.

River Crossings

Up high - nice and dry. Bearings and bushes are protected from fast flowing eddies that trail a vehicle. Best of all, by keeping the bicycles above the line described by the departure angle, they remain protected from any hidden obstacles in dark and murky water.

Security Lanyard Attachment Points

Stress-free travel also means stress-free parking. Special attachments points are built into each iSi bicycle carrier to effectively lock the bicycles to the bicycle carrier and then the carrier to the vehicle. This arrangement allows for easy access to the bicycles whilst keeping the bicycle carrier locked to the vehicle.

Easy Detachment

No need for tools or the hassle of removing the hitch from the vehicle. Simply slide the top security pin out, lower the bicycle carrier flat and then remove the lower security pin. Simple, easy and zero hassle detachment.
